Who am I ...really? Do you feel like your living behind a mask?
Overwhelming emotions, shame, low self-esteem, physical or sexual abuse, and suppressed anger are just a few of the reasons for self-injurious behavior.
Those who self-injure often feel they are living behind a mask, and that no one knows who they really are. Numbness or a sense of being detached from your surroundings is often experienced.
There is no magic wand or quick fix in stopping self-injury. Sometimes you many even think of cutting as your "best friend." You begin to turn to self-injury more and more, you may feel trapped, confused, empty and hopeless but, NEVER GIVE UP HOPE...there is a way out.
Be encouraged that YOU CAN overcome self-injury. You can be FREE. There is hope and HIS name is Jesus. Start by looking at yourself the way Jesus Christ sees you. You are His precious child and He loves you more than you could ever imagine. Experience true freedom from cutting by ask Jesus into your heart, and let Him be the Lord and Savior of your life. He will give you the power to overcome.
